What is acne?

Acne is one of the most common of all skin problems. It affects most teenagers to some degree and even adults. Acne shows up as whiteheads, blackheads, pimples and deep painful bumps (nodules) that look like boils. Acne most commonly occurs on the face but can also appear on the neck, back, chest and shoulders. It is estimated that as many as 80% of people between 12 and 25 years of age suffer from acne. While in most people, acne clears up after a few years, many suffer from permanent scarring of the skin.

What causes acne?

During puberty rising hormone levels cause the sebaceous (oil) glands of the skin to get bigger. It is activated by male-type hormones found in both males and females. The sebaceous glands secrete an oily substance called sebum which empties onto the skin's surface through the hair follicles.

Acne is a complex condition that depends basically on excess sebum (oil) production that occurs when you are going through hormonal imbalances... (specially during adolescence or, if a woman, during your period...) in conjunction with toxins within your skin, due to the intake of excess protein of poor quality, resulting in either:

a) those toxins within the skin follicles attract moisture and create pressure as if the sebaceous glands where pinched off, resulting in a soft pliable lump (knows as a cyst) within the hair follicle. The cyst is usually not painful or discolored unless it becomes infected by bacteria. Then it may become a deep painful bump (severe nodular cystic acne).

b) plugging of the opening of the hair follicles due to shedding of skin cells from the outer layer of the skin sticking with the sebum, resulting in whiteheads. When whiteheads are exposed to air they form blackheads due to oxidation (think of an apple that you leave on your desk half eaten).

Also, the mixture of oil and cells helps the bacteria, especially P. Acnes, to grow and become virulent. The increased pressure within the clogged follicle causes the wall of the follicle to rupture. As a result, sebum, bacteria and shed skin cells escape into the surrounding tissue, forming papules, pustules and nodules that can be large and painful. This usually heals within 8 weeks. Nodular acne can result in permanent scarring.

Anything that causes excess water retention within your skin can pinch off the sebaceous glands and make you break out sebum where acne bacteria will proliferate, in minutes, specially if you are going through a period of high sebum production. Excess salt and spices are the most common triggers, so if you eat too many potato chips... they contain both.

More on cooked proteins and acne: Heat destroys and/or changes essential nutrients. New harmful substances are formed in all animal or vegetable foods that are heated in whatever way. Dietary protein is partially damaged in the preparation process (cooking, freezing, etc) Protein molecules interact with dietary carbohydrates, forming new molecules. This process is called "the Maillard reaction", and the same occurs to peptides (amino-acid chains) because of simple oxidation.

In more detail: Digestive enzymes break protein amino acids, only if the targeted part of the protein matches what the enzyme is programmed for. If the linked amino-acids have changed due to heat their is no separation. The un-separated amino-acid chains are transported by the lymph system, at a much lower rate than blood does. And such cargo of Maillard reaction and oxidized peptide products is discharged into the skin so that the lymph can return to the digestive tract and the liver to pick up new cargo of valuable nutrients that it transports for use by the body's organs.

Cooked proteins transform into broken peptides (amino-acid chains) not absorbed into your blood stream but disposed off by your lymphatic system. And end up in the inner layer of your skin attracting moisture and pressing your sebaceous glands to the point of blocking them... and thus pimples.

Procedure to get rid of toxins accumulated within your skin (in the dermis):

1.- Go to a sauna and get into it for 15 minutes (not more not less), then shower. Then back to the sauna for another 15 minutes.. then shower, and then drink clean pure water. You can do this once or twice a month if you do not get addicted to such pleasures... and the clear results for your skin... specially if you also follow the next step.

If a sauna is not feasible steaming your face a few times a week will help a little. Boil some water in a pot on the stove, turn off the heat, cover your head and face with a towel and hang your face over the pot. Take your face away from the heat whenever you need to, and when the steam is gone, rinse your face with cold water. A steam bath or steam shower can also help open up your pores.

2.- Shift your diet, and stick strictly to it for two weeks. Eat loads of fresh fruits and fresh salads including tomato, avocado and virgin olive oil, plus fresh Brazil nuts and 50 grams each day of high quality bio-available proteins in the form of raw fish such as sashimi (fresh fish the Japanese way without the rice) or raw tuna fish (fresh not refrigerated or canned). In between meals drink mineral water to help your body flush out toxins. The recommended amount of water you should drink is at least half your bodyweight in ounces of water (a 140lb. individual should drink 70 ounces/day ). After those two weeks try eating a diet high in fiber and raw foods — salads, bran, complex carbohydrates, fresh raw fish, Brazil nuts and lots of mineral water. This will keep your system free of dirty proteins and your digestive tract moving so that your skin is not burdened by wastes your system can't handle. Keep your diet low in fat, sugar, too much salt and spices.

3. Apply BIOSKINCARE™ twice a day to a) speed the process of clearing your sebaceous glands of debris. b) place acne bacteria within your skin follicles under control, and c) clear acne marks and repair acne scarring.

How to use BIOSKINCARE™ for acne.

Wash your face with lots of lukewarm water and if necessary use a neutral or acid ph soap (Purpose soap from Johnson & Johnson will do). Pat dry before applying a thin layer of BIOSKINCARE™ on your skin. Gently massage BIOSKINCARE™ into your skin with your fingers. Do not use exfoliation washes, the cream already contains glycolic acid. If you are currently infected with ACNE: STEAMING your face a few times a week will help. (Boil some water in a pot on the stove, turn off the heat, cover your head and face with a towel and hang your face over the pot. Take your face away from the heat whenever you need to, and when the steam is gone, rinse your face with cold mineral water. Tap water may contain to many irritating substances.)

BIOSKINCARE™ contains glycolic acid, as is in the snails slime it is made off, in a small proportion (approx. 1.6%) and combined with skin repair substances. The key to skin renewal is a process where
