The classic definition of natural skin care is based on using botanically sourced ingredients currently existing in or formed by nature, without the use of synthetic chemicals, and manufactured in such a way to preserve the integrity of the ingredients.
We have an advantage overall other natural skin care products because of the naturally occurring skin serum that powers all our BIOCUTIS natural skin care line of products.
Thus we can say the only good rationale for using natural ingredients is the fact that in nature there are complex molecules that given their complexity our biochemists can not even dream of having the ability to replicate them in a laboratory.
All things equal though, the other necessary qualifier we should ask from the ingredients is that they be compatible with living cells, or in other words safe and in agreement with what our biology mandates. This is the case with the complex set of molecules created by the biochemistry of the immune system of a living snail, because its biological system is capable of generating tremendous chemical diversity through the processes of genetic recombination and somatic mutation.
Long-term use of this and other so-called “natural ingredients” are most likely safer than chemical ones… unless you suffer from frequent allergies.
Natural ingredients, aside from allergies may have blood thinning, and hormonal responses. However, man has used natural ingredients for a very long time and the responses to these ingredients are mostly known and readily available with some research.
Consideration needs to be taken in using botanical or organic or other natural ingredients that can still be incompatible or interactive with negative implications – it is certainly not the case that just because it is natural it is automatically safe in conjunction with anything and at any level.
Now be careful with claims regarding ingredients derived from natural sources. This is a really big one – some state that natural and nature-identical synthetics are the same. Beware for it is not the whole story and needs seriously questioning.
For one controversial example lets look at naturally occurring hormones and nature-identically synthetic hormones – they do not react in the same way in the body and for one MAJOR reason – the intelligent machine that is called our body DOES NOT recognize nature-identical in the same way as natural substances. It may appear to even process them in the same way at first but the physical residue left by these products is not and can never be the same as the natural substance itself. We have so much proof of this we cannot ignore it any longer – more research please, and not just by the companies who produce the nature-identical components.
Efficacy and safety of natural vs synthetic. Safety wise, to link natural as something overwhelmingly safe is mis-information. Most so-called “natural indredients” are a blend. And some chemicals that compose the natural ingredient will have their benefits but some parts of it may actually be toxic/irritants (i.e. essential oils).
Nothing is veiled by the word natural. Facts and data have to be robust enough to go against a natural alternative. The trend now is leaning on naturals and with natural sources being depleted at a crazy rate and even with renewable, sustainable, fair trade practices in place we might reach to a point where everything would go polar opposite when our natural resources become used up to a point of endangerment which I believe it is… that sourcing natural materials will become astronomically expensive, and now we have a market opening for synthetics, cheaper, safer more eco friendly…
In the end, both naturals and synthetics are to be looked at in the same light in terms of safety. There are new things being discovered everyday. What’s safe now may not be tomorrow and what’s not safe now may actually be wrong data. I think its important that we do not generalize and always formulate and market with the end in mind and don’t blurt out things like ” if its natural its good for you” and “its synthetic it not good for you” a trend is a trend and will and can be changed either passively or otherwise.
A little creature that has skin that is very close structurally to that of our skin makes a serum for its own skin care: HELIX ASPERSA MÜLLER GLYCOCONJUGATES.
The compound is packed with proteins, peptides, anti-inflammatories, and antioxidants. The compound is so progressive and complex that it is impossible to replicate in laboratories. Glycoconjugates are produced within the cells for their own repair.
This natural, biological output from cells is used by the body to boost new cell growth and orchestrate both an orderly skin repair and the elimination of pathogens or micro-organisms (such as uncontrolled acne bacteria) while cleaning out dead or dying cells and opening clogged pores. It can be used as a natural acne treatment since it works biologically with your body on a cellular level. Botanicals and herbs exist in nature but they are not biological agents.
There is no guarantee that they will be compatible with the biology of the cell itself. With glycoconjugates, you need not worry about intercellular compatibility issues since the enzymes and cells themselves produce these molecules. They work in concert with your body to stimulate natural renewal processes. It stimulates the natural defense mechanisms of your body and reduces scar tissue by regenerating healthy cells in place of dead, dysfunctional or dying cells.
Chemists are not yet able to effectively create skin products in the laboratory that are at least comparable to the complex serum secreted by this living creature’s immune system.
This should come as no surprise for the creature’s immune system has been capable of generating tremendous chemical diversity through the processes of genetic recombination and somatic mutation in order to thrive and adapt to harsh environments, predators and the threats posed by germs and bacteria. This is also how they have survived for billions of years.
Hence, the snail’s serum is currently the best biological ingredient for skin product that truly yield healthier skin.
The additional ingredients in all of our skin care products containing the natural serum, even those ingredients we use for preserving the creams from yeasts and micro-organisms that can come from you dipping your hands into it, are from botanical origin. We chose them because they are completely compatible with our delicate human biology. There are no side effects or allergic reactions so all you’ll experience is healthier looking skin.
