The Weight Loss Cure Protocol and a Simple Dietary Tool, the Food Pyramid

by Jeff Svoboda

Nutritionists and dieticians throughout the world have been on the lookout for the perfect diet regime. Among other requirements, this regime should be helpful in maintaining human fitness and provide for the nutritional needs of the body. Of all the ideas generated by researchers, the food pyramid is the most promising.

This great idea was given by Ann-Britt Agnsater to the world as she percieved the food guide as a pyramid for the co-operative test kitchen at Sweden. It very quickly conquered Europe. There after the whole world realized the importance of this simple dietary tool towards community health. This has been a great advantage to people seeking weight loss help too.

In order to provide advice on a "balanced diet" nutritionists and doctors have been looking for easy visualization tools which will be simple to use. In order for a diet to be called balanced it needs to supply carbohydrates, proteins, fats, roughage. It also needs the right quantities of vitamins and minerals.

The Department of agriculture is the nodal agency on food and nutrition in the Unites States. The food pyramid version given by this nodal agency is most popular reference today than any other versions. The food pyramid version of US Agriculture department includes personalized dietary advices with quantities of calories taken based on weight, sex, age and height of a human.

In all there are six divisions on the food pyramid. On the extreme left are grains with the minimum prescribed intake of three ounces. It is recommended that grains with fibers (roughage), or "whole grains" be used. Then the next division is leafy greens, orange colored veggies, and beans. Next are fruits and it is advised to eat fruits instead of taking fruit juices.

Next come edible oils. It is good to take a combination of low cholesterol and polyunsaturated fatty acid containing oils. Next come milk and its products such as cheese. Last in list come meat and beans to be included in meals which are to be baked or broiled or grilled instead of deeply frying them.

The brilliant idea of food pyramid was given by Ann-Britt Agnsater when she visualized the food guide in the form of a pyramid for a co-operative test kitchen while in Sweden. It is proven to be a boon for people seeking weight loss help. This idea addresses the needs of a balanced diet, which supplies carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and roughage in the right quantities which are needed to maintain good health. Planning the components of your food as per balanced diet concepts will ensure you that all parts of the body, including the lungs, heart, liver, hypothalamus, and pituitary glands, are functioning correctly.
